I thought I'd give you a tour of the upstairs and outside of The Wish House. The downstairs was too crowded today. I'll try to get some more pictures tomorrow. Today was the first day of our sale. Thursdays are always an invitation only sale but there were hundreds of people who shopped today. The big sellers today were all of the dollar items. Christmas pins, pennies glued to a card and toilet paper rolls. Yes, toilet paper rolls. Someone wrapped toilet paper in cellophane with a little poem about only having enough money to buy a gift of paper to wipe your bum. I wish I had thought of it because they were selling like hot umm cakes. I had a nice visit from Analise from Sugar*Sugar and met her cute little boy. My daughter also spent some time with me.
I have two more days of standing around and carrying purchases for little old women down the stairs. The standing around is dangerous. I look around and see something I didn't see earlier and keep a running list of things I want to buy. One sour spot was when two women discussed my pretty aprons and decided that "no one wears aprons anymore and they aren't a good gift either". Oh, I wanted to kick them to the bottom of the staircase. Well not really; but I did wonder what Phyllis (Shabby in the City) would have said to them. Despite their conversation, I did sell some and also sold quite a few pincushions.
Anyway, here are some pictures of the upstairs. This does not even capture the scope of how many things were for sale. Every room was packed. The master bedroom.
The hallway and the pink bedroom.
The bathroom. The long table is actually a claw foot tub that the owner made a cover to fit for the boutique.
The boy's room. The boys are grown men now. The owners rag painted these walls more than 15 years ago.
My favorite spot though is outside. I love this patio and can't believe that we live in the same climate. My plants never look this pretty. Doesn't that rocking chair look like the perfect place to read a book?
As for the snowman kisses I alluded to in the title. A lady painted little snowmen on paper covered boxes of Tic Tacs. Snowman kisses. Cute!
