Sunday was such a great day! My best friend, Paula picked me up and we headed to the Clovis Antique Fair. Paula has just started a blog and I hope you will all go over and encourage her to keep blogging. We've been friends since 7th grade. Paula also sews, gardens and has great decorating skills! We had barely started walking when I saw Sheri (The Pawsh Poodle Boutique) and her daughter, Ashlee, browsing a jewelry booth. The vendors make jewelry from old watch faces and typewriter keys and I think everyone ended up buying something from them. A few minutes later the four of us met up with Becky (Sweet Cottage Dreams) and her friends Wave and Jean (In the Garden With Miss Jean). The seven of us had lunch where we all swapped stories. If you have read Becky's or Sheri's blogs you've probably guessed that they are sweet women. I can tell you that they are just as sweet in person. I really enjoyed getting to meet them. All of us seem to have the "treasure hunting" gene.
Sheri's beautiful daughter had even helped her mom find a great vintage bracelet that morning. I wish I had taken a picture of Sheri's great "purse". It is a pink and cream vintage bowling bag that her daughter found. I think Sheri "borrowed" it from her daughter's closet. ;o) I was disappointed that my daughter didn't get to meet up with us. Maybe next time.
It was so darn windy that I don't think any of us took pictures outside. It was all I could do to hold my hair out of my face and hunt for treasure. I found a couple of gold Moon and Stars goblets for my daughter. I was walking away from the booth when the vendor said "half price"! Sold! I was browsing through a booth full of knick knacks when I fell in love with this adorable figurine. It is marked Goebel and is called Stolen Kiss. I looked it up on Ebay and it is selling for over 100.00. It came home with me for just 20. and I love it! I also had to add this little girl to my collection. She needs a bath but I just love her aqua blue diaper!
Clovis has two antique street fairs every year. Sheri and I want to have a blogger meet at the next one in October. I hope that some of you in California will come and meet us. We had such a great time yesterday!
