I don't know about you but I wish the most pressing thing on my mind was, "what hat should I wear today?". The sadness and stress of this week has made it hard for me to find something pink to share. Yesterday's events in Texas, today's events in Orlando, the every day stress of being a parent in this society has all added up to making me wish that I had a hat I could just hide under. Maybe a big sun hat on the beach somewhere. Maybe a baseball hat on my head as I take a long, long walk. Bring back hats. Bring back peace. Our children and their children and even their children's children deserve a peaceful place to hang their hat. Isn't it way past time? Have a Pink and Peaceful Saturday. I'm hoping we all will.
My apologies to Beverly for standing on my pink soap box.

The world seems a bit upside down right now, so it's nice to have a diversion like Pink Saturday. And I love your hats, Betty!
My best friend's daughter was trapped for what she said seemed like forever on the interstate when they shut it down after the shootings. She lives in Orlando and was in route to the Gator game in Gainesville when they got stuck in traffic. They are all so freaked out by it.
We all need to pray for protection for ourselves and for those we love. That's all any of us can do. That and pray for those who have lost loved ones.
Happy Pink Saturday to one of my favorite Pinkies!
XO,
Sheila :-)

Wouldn't it be fun to wear one of those hats! You always manage to find some wonderful items to list entertaining us all.

It would be kinda akward too if that was all we had to care about, don't you think, though I have to say I really love your vintage postcard collage, as always. Yeah we heard about Texas and about Orlando too. Now that you are on your pink soap box, do you mind if I join you there to have my little contribution? I think it would be great if we tought our children peace and not to use weapons, trying to abandon weapons and reserve them only for those in charge of keeping peace and order, at the same time we should teach them to listen to each other and act if somebody calls for help. Of course strange, unbelievable, horrible things will allways happen, but we should try to prevent them as much as possible and in my opinion a weapon free and peaceful society contributes to that. Happy pink Saturday!

An let's make sure it's pink! LOL
Hello Betty,
You're right, let's let our hats be heard. I never really though of hat and the comfort it gives . . . symbolizes.
And yes, I read the news in the internet about the shootings too. Is irony the word? - - people had to die that day (innocent people) because you didn't want the war. Isn't it like doing what you were against in the first place? I . . . we will never know and understand what was on his mind and now, we only end up with questions :-(
Mizpah always Betty! (I find comfort in saying that)

I love hats and these are so pretty...in the good old day ladies always wore a hat...my grannma always wore a small one even when she went out to run errands. I often wish for days past...a kinder and more peaceful time. This past week has reminded me of a much happier time and I pray for peace and better times for all....hugs, Linda

Betty, I have just one thing to say...well maybe three...YOU GO GIRL!! Lately I am having fear for this country of ours. In fact I have raised my voice too, on Sunday and on Veteran's Day. I have received some Emails that really get me on my soap box too. I have to say our lives have been pretty pink and rosy but I believe there are bad people out there that would take our country and destroy the very heart of our lives, which is our faith in God.
Thank you for speaking out Betty. You rock!
Love and hugs, Jeanne

Betty, Your post expresses what mine does. I wanted a way to commemorate this past week of lives lost. Please share your Rosie the Riveter story soon! I would LOVE to hear about it! Elizabeth

Oh Betty:
You and Mary are such gentle souls!!! My daughter (whom I am currently staying with) will not turn the news on for the very reasons you state. I read most of what I learn about on the Internet. I grew up in the 50's and we were so innocent back then. Now, the kids have such a hard time in the climate of this horribly rough and savage time : (
Go sit in the back, put on a glorious sun hat and relax.
Peace & love to you

I must admit I wish we lived in a gentler time, with less access to guns, no war, and that we truly looked on everyone as our brother or sister. Because they are. I hear people say things about others that are terrible - the speaker implying he or she is better than someone else and consequently entitled to more. This can only lead to tragedy. And it does.
There - that's my soapbox for today.
Your post is lovely - the hats are so wonderful - I wish we all wore hats more often! Happy Pink Saturday!
Peace,
Claudia

Oh Betty,
I wish I could give my daughter's the childhood I had, without so many worries and difficulties around them. My daughter and her friend went into NYC yesterday and spent the night. They visited Ground Zero. I thought, this would have been unheard of when I grew up. So many awful things in the world, and information is so in our face all the time. Some days I wish I lived in the woods somewhere and I could pretend that everything was all right in the world.

All the hats are lovely - beautiful vintage images.
I have enjoyed my visit to your blog and Happy Pink Saturday. I hope you have a wonderful new week.

Well, Scarlet Ohara said she would think about it tomorrow and then she had a hat made out of the drawing room drapes...or something like that. Life is tough, we just have to keep believing that there is more good in the world than bad. You can get on that pink soap box any day of the week..that is what we are here for..to listen to your thoughts.

Hi Betty:
What a great collage of hats. I think it would be fun if women wore hats as a daily accessory again : ) I would wear the one like the lady holding the leopard cub : )
I am passing on an award to you. You, my friend, are a busy lady so forget the questions because I am sure you have listed them before. Just pick up the award when you have time.
Has your daughter-in-law baked anymore of her fabulous coolies?
Have a wonderful week
peace & hugs
carole
Peace...we certainly need more in this particular climate : (
