While we were at the coast, we visited a beautiful shop called Posies. They had stacks of gorgeous quilted place mats. They were five dollars each and I needed eight of them. I decided instead of spending that much money on something I could make myself, to make my own. I've been saving this Barefoot Roses fabric for over a year. Each place mat was made with a central pink piece and then the four corners were done in the same fabric in a different shade. I also tried free form quilting. If you look close, you'll notice they're all quilted differently. I finally decided I liked a simple vine for the quilting. I had no idea how much thread free form quilting takes and how much you work your arm muscles pushing that fabric around. In hindsight, I should have decided on a design for the quilting before I started. Next time I'll know better!
Now, not only is my table ready for Easter but my place mats are perfect for Pink Saturday. Last week Beverly had 180 participants on Pink Saturday. Wow! Beverly continues to amaze me with her organization of all of us pinkies. One of our newest pinkies is Louise at Cape Cod Rambling Rose? She has a beautiful blog. If you haven't visited her yet, you're in for a treat!
