Well, my team lost again. It's hard to beat a team filled with those d*mn Yankees and Ichiro. The man hit an in the park home run. Amazing! I'm not a poor loser. I'm not, I'm not!
I do however remember that my blog is supposed to be about sewing, so it was back to the sewing machine for me.
I managed to sew one tote bag in the last few days. The fabric I bought from Amy at Four Sisters in a Cottage and the straps were part of a surprise package from Carole at Scoundrels and Rogues. I couldn't find any interfacing in my stash that was big enough so I used some quilt batting for stability. I think it turned out pretty. I am debating with myself about keeping it. If I do, I think Karla's charm would look pretty attached to it.
I also did some thrifting with my youngest son. He found a blazer, a brand new baseball hat from a skateboarding store and a ring. I'll have to get a picture of him modeling it all when he is awake. Summer around here means sleeping half the day and staying up all night.
I also found the pretty little saucers, some vintage fabric and three embroidered towels. I'm going to soak the towels in Oxyclean and see if I can get the yellow out. Aren't they adorable? I love the calico look of the dogs.
I've been keeping an eye out for an extra Scrabble game to use for altered art and finally found one. I used some of the letters to finish a collage I have been playing with for weeks. I bought an extremely tattered book of children's stories at an estate sale for 50 cents. I made this collage using some of the scanned pages, some fabric samples and a vintage scan of a little girl having a tea party with her cats.
Here's the bookmarks I made for Angela at MissMollyCottage. I should have made one for me too.
Now I am fully back in the crafting-sewing mode and I am working on a surprise for a friend that I will show you next week.
