Jessie Loved Pink

Jessie Wilcox Smith was a prolific illustrator born in 1863. She was already 55 years old when she started illustrating the cover of Good Housekeeping Magazine. Her artwork was featured on every cover until 1933. Who says you can't start a new career after the age of 50? Which is what I will be doing next year. I've just re-enrolled in college after taking two years off. I'm taking more medical coding classes so that I can follow in my daughter's footsteps. That's a switch-isn't it?
Don't you think if Jessie were alive today, she would love our pink Saturday group? Her illustrations of little girls often included the color pink in dresses and bows and even doll clothes.

What a great post. It's wonderful to have a reminder that life is always full of riches to come, and fulfilling work. Congrats to you for going back to school. It's something I've been contemplating myself, and you're an inspiration.

Hello Betty, I love that you wrote about Jessie Wilcox. Her illustrations are so terrific. I enjoyed the ones you posted. A great collage.

Pack your bags and come on Betty. There is everything in the cabin you would need except food. We rent it on occasion but we don't advertise it. We like to rent to people we know or a referral. If you didn't see my post of the inside go to my archives and click on Nov.2nd. Then scroll down to Nov. 4th. Keep going to the next post (blue Mon.) I posted the main bedroom. That covers all the rooms. We love our cabin.
