Have you seen these cute shopping bags from TJMaxx? Phyllis at Blissitydoodah sent me one as a house warming gift. I loved it so much I wanted to see it all the time so I hung it on the kitchen door with my aprons. When I was out window shopping with my hubby, I saw a bread bag made from an old linen tablecloth. I almost bought it until I remembered I had lots of "cutter" cloths at home. I was planning on using one until I looked at my pretty bag and said, "ah hah, what could be better than shopping bag fabric for a bread bag?!". I trimmed the top and bottom off. I opened it out flat and cut one side down the middle and then trimmed the pink polka dot off to make the top edge of the bag. I made a half inch hem and added some pink rick rack. I folded the whole piece of fabric in half with right sides together and serged both sides making a bag. Now I can hide the loaf of white bread that my husband and son can't live without and I can see my pretty bag every day! The bag is plenty deep enough for a whole loaf of bread. I just pulled the loaf out for the picture. I'm hiding hamburger buns in there too.
That's my pretty contribution to Pink Saturdays. Visit Beverly and find out what everyone else is sharing!
Genius. Simply genius. I can't wait to get to stitching tomorrow. Very hectic week. Hope you are feeling better...Smiles...Renee

Pretty!
If I saw it in a store I would think 'what for?' But yours is so appealing and pretty, I find it very tempting indeed... so much nicer to look at than plastic bread bags!

Haha! What a surprise! Yeah, everybody will be copying your idea! Wasn't there quite a bit left over for another project?
Yes, the Kewpie is flying to Australia...sorry!

I saw that bag in the store and loved the fabric. It is adorable as a bread bag. How creative of you to come up with another use for a shopping bag! Happy Pink Saturday!

Very cool Betty. I was in the States last week for mom's birthday, and I scored at T.J. Max. I had a pretty bag like yours in my hands but it smelt funny to me. Maybe because they were so new. I didn't want to put my pretty dress in it : (
Now I wish I would have bought it. With Randy making so much bread, it would have been pretty to have on my kitchen counter. Next time...
Love You
Love Me.
